Shopping my Collection – Makeup Look

I have quite a lot of makeup, maybe more than your average person. I find it difficult to get through everything but still proceed to buy more and more! I always seem to stick to the same products when I should be using up what I have. As part of my ‘project pan’ to use up more of my makeup, I decided to share with you a little makeup look using products that I don’t usually reach for. Before I continue, there are a couple of products that I very rarely switch up e.g. powder and brows, so I may have mentioned some items in previous posts.

Primer
Benefit POREfessional Primer

Firstly, I go in with my primer. Today I decided to use my Benefit POREfessional, I have rather prominent pores in my t-zone especially on my nose, so a pore filling primer is always a good option. However, I don’t typically reach for this primer that often. I’ve had it for so long but I hardly use it, but I always really like it whenever I wear it. It is nearly empty now so I might as well finish it up.

Foundation
Max Factor Facefinity Foundation

Next is foundation. I have a few different foundations, but I always reach for the same one. For this look I applied my Max Factor Facefinity in the shade Natural, this shade is a little dark for my skin tone, this was originally my mum’s foundation but it was too light for her. I fix the shade match by using a lighter concealer, and applying the foundation down my neck slightly. It’s an easily buildable foundation and can be made as sheer or full coverage as you like. I hardly ever need to do powder top ups throughout the day as this seems to maintain a matte appearance on my oily skin. This foundation retails for £13.99, cheap but pricier than some drugstore foundations.

Nars Concealer
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

I don’t have a concealer that I haven’t reached for in ages, but instead of talking about my Revolution one, I thought I’d mention my newest purchase, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I’d heard so many good things about this product, so of course I wanted to try it out. I picked up the shade Light. When using this concealer, I like to keep my undereyes clear of foundation. I find when this concealer sits on top of foundation (around the eye area) it creases. Adding to bare skin really helps with the coverage and reduces creasing. I like to apply this concealer down the centre of my nose, chin and forehead. Occasionally I will add a small amount underneath my cheekbones to counteract the darker foundation/enhance my contour.

I’m only going to touch briefly on my face powder because I have used the same one for years. This is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, I swear by this stuff and it really helps to mattify my makeup without making the foundation appear cakey.

Bronzer
Makeup Revolution Ultra Bronze

For bronzer I used the Revolution Ultra Bronze. I’ve had this for so long and have barely made a dent in it! I like to apply this to the contours of my cheeks, forehead and sides of my nose for that all over sunkissed look. It’s very pigmented and doesn’t look muddy or patchy on my pale skin.

Blush
Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Palette (Limited Edition)

Next I reached for my Benefit Blush Kit, this is another product that I’ve dusted off to start using. I’ve had this for years but hardly use it these days. It contains 5 blushes, Hoola Bronzer and Killawat Highlighter. For this look I reached for Dandelion, its the palest blush in the kit but it really complimented the eye look I wanted to achieve. This kit was limited edition, but Benefit have similar products available.

Highlighter
Sephora Collection Golden Hour Highlighter

To add a glow to my skin, I went with my Sephora Collection highlighter in the shade Golden Hour. I bought this on a trip to New York a couple of years ago, I used it so much to begin with but now I don’t really gravitate towards it. In the pan it looks like a typical pink highlighter, but once brushed lightly onto the skin it magically appears gold (hence the shade name I suppose). It isn’t a blinding highlighter, but looks amazing all the same. I place it on the tops of my cheekbones and the tip of my nose.

naked-3 (1)
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

For eyes I always use the Urban Decay Primer Potion in original, my lids are very prone to creasing so an eyelid primer is a must for me. Keeping with the Urban Decay theme, I decided to use my Naked 3 palette. I typically reach for warm oranges and browns, but I also love the way pinks and rose golds look on my eyes. I haven’t dipped into this palette for quite a while so thought it was about time I pulled it back out. For this look I use the shade Strange all over my lid/brow bone; Limit and Nooner blended in the crease and the shade Liar in the centre of my lid.

Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara

Mascara is the final step for my eyes, for this look I used the Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Mascara. This is one that I loved so much, but after purchasing the Nars Climax I just stopped using it. This is such a good drugstore product, it has a wet formula but drys down quickly and doesn’t smudge. It’s buildable, allowing for eyelashes with tones of length and volume.

Brow Archery
Soap and Glory Brow Archery

Lately I haven’t been using a product designed specifically for brows. I’ve been dipping into my Anastasia Soft Glam palette and using the shades Cyrpus Umber and Noir to fill in my brows. Over the top I’ve been using the Soap and Glory Archery 2-In-1 Crayon, however I only use the clear brow gel. This product sets my brows in place all day and they do not budge!

Lip Products
Elf Lip Kiss Balm; Soap & Glory Extreme Plump Gloss

Last but not least, lips! I love a matte warm nude lip, but for this look I decided to go with something a little different. My lips have been feeling a little dry lately, what with the colder weather here in the UK. Sitting in my work makeup back, this product hasn’t been getting much attention, so I brought it back into my makeup drawers so I can use it up. This is the Elf Lip Kiss Balm, it adds a pinkish red tint to the lips which paired really well with the eye look I created. Over the top I added a clear plumping gloss by Soap and Glory. I can’t seem to find this on the Boots site, I think this came in one of their sets.

I don’t particularly like taking selfies, but for this post I thought it would be a good idea to showcase the final look. So here is an awkward picture of me after finishing my makeup, still in my fancy robe.

Makeup Look

I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting this together. I think I’m going to do similar posts like this again in the future. I really need to use up the makeup I have before buying more and more!

Until Another Day x
