CULT Beauty Starter Kit Review

If you are a huge beauty fanatic like me, then you will have likely heard of the Cult Beauty Starter Kit. This set of makeup and skincare products is a round up of their ‘holy grail’ beauty goodies all in one box. Its contents are worth over £90 but the box retails for just £30! It was my birthday on 23rd September so I decided to treat myself to an early present and pick up this kit. Cult Beauty regularly change the contents of their Starter Kits and they sell out quickly, so act fast to grab yourself a bargain.

What’s Inside?

Cult Beauty Starter Kit Products. Dr Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Sleepair Mask; REN AHA Tonic; Living Proof Perfect Hair Day; Pleanaire Rose Jelly Makeup Remover, The Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream, Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

In this seasons Starter Kit, you can find a bunch of amazing skincare products with a gorgeous eye shadow palette thrown in there too:

  • Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Eye Shadow Palette (the main reason I bought the box)
  • REN Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic
  • Living Proof Perfect Hair Day
  • Plenaire Rose Jelly Makeup Remover
  • The Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream
  • Dr Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Sleepair Intensive Mask

For context, the Huda Beauty Palette is worth £25 on it’s own and it’s a full-size product, so you are getting a lot of bang for your buck!

My Thoughts

After using each of the products in this box for a few weeks, I wanted to share my thoughts on them all and whether or not I would consider repurchasing them in the future.

Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Palette

I love love love this palette for autumn, it has such beautiful warm toned shades to create a gorgeous orange or red smokey eye. The shades are very pigmented, easily blendable and the shimmers are absolutely stunning. I was concerned that the shadows would stain my eye lids, but I was pleasently surprised. I’d recommend using a concealer or eyeshadow base before applying your eyeshadow, this was what I did!

REN Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic

I was so happy to see this toner in the box, I’ve always wanted to try it out but the full size is wayyy too expensive. At first I really liked this tonic, however recently my skin is not reacting well too it at all. My skin has started to become red and blotchy, it isn’t painful and disappears in about 10-15 minutes, but I think I’m going to have to discontinue using it. I will stick to my Pixi Glow Tonic instead!

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day

If you follow me on Instagram then you will know that I have very curly hair. Finding products which help to tame frizz inbetween washes isn’t easy for me. I am obsessed with this product my Living Proof, it helps to add shine back into my hair and banishes the frizz away. I like to apply this to the lengths of my hair (when dry) and scrunch into my hair. Applying too much can make the hair a little crispy, but evenly distriputing the product helps to prevent this. This is definitely a product I will look at repurchasing!

Plenaire Rose Jelly Makeup Remover

In a bid to be more eco-friendly I completely banished makeup wipes from my skincare routine. Not only are they bad for the environment, but they’re not actually that great for the skin either. I always use face oils to remove my makeup so I was super happy to receive this jelly based remover. It has a really nice subtle rose scent to it, so does not feel harsh on the skin. This product breaks down even difficult to remove makeup, such as liquid eyeliner, and my skin felt extremely clean and fresh afterwards. 10/10 from me!

The Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream

Eye cream is something I struggle with, I can never seem to find one that actually reduces the big dark circles I have underneath my eyes. It has a nice texture and hydrates my undereyes, I do geniunely thing it helps to make me look more awake. As for it’s effect on my dark circles, I’m still trying to develop an opinion on this. I’m in the process of finishing up a different eye cream so have been switching between the two, so I cannot fully tell if it has helped yet.

Dr Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Sleepair Intensive Mask

I have always wanted to try a sleeping mask, it’s a product that has always intriqued me. I wear an eye mask to sleep at the moment, so I could only try this out on the bottom half of my face. When I awoke the next morning, my skin felt incredible and extremely soft. Like the eye cream, I need to test this out a little more but so far I am absolutely loving it. I have very sensitive skin, especially on my chin and this didn’t break me out at all!

The Final Verdict

Overall, I am so happy that I picked this up. I’m slightly disappointed that the REN Tonic didn’t work for me but I loved everything else in the box, so I can’t really complain. It was such a bargain for the quality of the products inside, and I think I have found some new favourites! I will 100% be keeping an eye out the next time Cult Beauty release another starter kit, it’s definitely worth the money. Did you manage to get your hands on this, what are you thoughts? Have you tried any of these products before? Let’s talk in the comments!!

  1. I have always wanted to try a beauty box. I think I am a little skittish because I might just get products I really don’t like or are to harsh for my delicate skin. I think I might try them now. Thank you for the review.

    1. The Cult Beauty stater kits are great because you are not tied down to a subscription, it’s a one off purchase! That way you can check which products are going to be in the kit before purchasing allowing you to do some research beforehand. Thank you for reading x

  4. Looks like you got some great products. I would love to hear about your opinion about the eye cream after using it for a while… Like you, I’ve been struggling to find something that will actually battle the dark circles that are under my eyes.

  5. I don’t know where I’ve been but I haven’t seen these boxes and it looks like incredible value. I love the Huda palettes, so compact for travel. It’s a shame you didn’t get on with the Ren product, it’s one of the only exfoliators my skin doesn’t react to! Love the sound of the sleeping mask x

  6. This seems really good for the price and how much you get! The eye palette sounds so lovely, and I also like the sound of the rose jelly make up remover, I’ve been using the same make up remover for so long that I feel like I need to try something new. Thanks for sharing, sounds like a good lil beauty box! xx
