Being on a tight budget doesn’t mean that you need to compromise on the quality of your skincare products. If you didn’t already know, I purchased my first home back in June. So as you can imagine, my bank balance isn’t as full as it used to be. That being said, I never particularly splurged out on my skincare, only the occasional high-end product would make it into my collection, as I’ve always been particularly careful of how I spend my money.
Now I know you didn’t come here to learn about my spending habits, so I better get a move on and talk about the main reason you are reading this post…The Best Affordable Skincare products!
Cleansers
After reading skinCARE: The ultimate no-nonsense guide, I decided to only purchase ‘cheap’ cleansers. Caroline Hirons made a perfectly valid point on cleansers. Why waste money on an expensive cleanser when it basically gets washed down the drain, I couldn’t agree more! In this section, I will share some affordable effective cleanser products to help keep the skin clean and clear.
Lacura Moisturising Face Wash – 99p

Yes. You did read that correctly. Just 99p for a face wash! Lacura is Aldi’s very own affordable skincare brand. The brand features a range of products (I will be including some more of their products further into this post) to meet everyone’s skincare requirements. This cleanser lathers up into a sort of foam, it doesn’t strip the skin and make it feel dry either. The Lacura Face Wash reminds me of the Simple Moisturising Facial Wash, it’s almost identical, but a lot cheaper. Lacura are also cruelty free, making it a well-rounded ethical and budget friendly brand. This face wash contains Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin B3 and Bisabolol and is 100% soap free, making it suitable for all skin types.
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser – £9.50 or £15 (depending on size)
This cleanser definitely isn’t as cheap as the first, but is really good. If you’re not a fan of foaming cleansers, then the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser would be perfect for you. It comes in two sizes of varying prices. Whilst £15 might seem expensive for a cleanser, it lasts a really long time, so is a great investment. The smaller size cleanser is more affordable, retailing for around £9.50.
Serums
I had never really incorporated serums into my skincare routine until around 18 months ago. When the pandemic hit, I was thrust into working from home full-time, so I wasn’t wearing makeup as often. I decided to concentrate on skincare more, and that’s when I discovered serums…they are life changing! My skin has never looked better.
Revolution Skincare 3% Vitamin C Serum – £8.00

I picked this serum up randomly one day when I was browsing the shelves in Superdrug, and I am so glad I did. My skin seems to love Vitamin C, whenever I use a Vitamin C skincare product my skin glows! This serum is ideal for boosting radiance and I certainly notice how the texture of my skin improves. This was my first time trying a Revolution Skincare product, I have been completely blown away but the quality and affordability. All Revolution Skincare products are vegan and cruelty free!
Lacura Q10 Multi-Intensive Serum – £2.99

Another of Aldi’s fantastic bargain skincare items, that you must add to your cosmetics drawer. The packaging of this Q10 serum is very similar to Nivea’s Q10 range! This serum claims to help smooth skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Whilst I cannot particularly comment on the improvement of fine lines and wrinkles (given that I have just turned 25), I can certainly mention how brightening and smoothing this serum is. I actually find it to be very hydrating and it has the most beautiful refreshing scent!
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum – £5.90

This next serum needs no introduction, as I feel it is included in everyone’s skincare routine. Hyaluronic Acid is a staple product for me, I use it daily, morning and evening. It’s a hydrating serum, I was always a little apprehensive about including such a hydrating product into my skincare, because of my oily skin, but I had nothing to fear. Although moisturising, this hyaluronic acid is by no means ‘oily’, so it doesn’t add a greasy shine to the skin. It’s like a glass of water for your skin, it sinks deep into the skin and creates a natural looking glow.
Moisturiser
Okay so I’m a little gutted about this next one. I had another Aldi Lacura product lined up to discuss, but it appears to be discontinued, although my local Aldi do still have this in stock. I only purchased mine about 3-4 months ago as well, it was their Q10 Renew Night Cream, but there isn’t much point in me talking about it now. It’s pretty rubbish when you find a product that works and it gets discontinued.
Cetraben Cream – £4.99

For many years I have suffered with eczema flare ups on various parts of my body, particularly my face and hands. I need to use prescribed steroid creams from the chemist to clear up the worst episodes. However, I find that the Cetraben Cream is wonderful for soothing those itchy bouts of eczema or dermatitis. It’s a rather oily greasy cream, so use sparingly on the face if you have oily or combination skin. I tried this cream for the first time in one of my GLOSSYBOX subscriptions a few months back, and I have been using it ever since.
So there you have it, I’ve featured six affordable skincare products to suit even the tightest of budgets. I adore each and every one of these skincare products and cannot recommend them enough. I am always bargain hunting to find affordable yet effective beauty products. Have you tried any of the products I’ve mentioned? Do you have any cheap beauty favourites that you swear by? I’d love to chat everything skincare in the comments, Twitter or Instagram!
Until Another Day x

These are great! I hate spending too much on skincare. I usually just get the ‘Simple’ brand as that’s cheap and always works well for me.
